Whitney

Whitney was elected to the Torch of Wisdom Foundation Board of Directors in 2019 and she currently serves the Vice President.

She is also the co-chair and a mentor for The Learning Network. As a product of the TOWF and Southfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta youth programming, Whitney counts it a privilege to give back to the organizations that poured so much into her and helped to mold her purpose. The mission of TOWF reinforces the values of social activism and community service that she has known all her life. Also, as a mentor of The Learning Network for the past six years, Whitney has had the rewarding opportunity to not only plan the sessions for the program but share her learnings, challenges, and successes with the students to set their careers on the path of success. As beloved leader Dorothy Height once said, “Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It's the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.” Service has been Whitney’s style of leadership.

Whitney is Detroit-based communication, public relations, and marketing executive. Currently, Whitney works in brand and product communications for the Cadillac brand of General Motors. She has previously served as the Director of Communications and Community Outreach for Wayne County and in lead communications roles for the Salvation Army Metropolitan Division, Fleishman-Hillard PR Agency, and National Public Radio.

Whitney graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and earned a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications from American University in Washington D.C. She dedicates her time to empowering other women through her work with her non-profit organization The Connection Network, and as an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
