Sherry 

Sherry has been a Torch of Wisdom Foundation Board of Directors member since 2015 and currently serves as Fund Development Director.


She has been a dedicated volunteer and has been actively engaged with the TOWF programs and events. Sherry is involved with the Torch of Wisdom Foundation, Inc. because she supports its mission, values and serving others in the community. Sherry enjoys giving back because it gives her great joy to know that she is helping others and having a positive impact in the communities throughout Southeast Michigan.


Professionally, she has over 25 years of experience in business administration and management. She is currently the Department Manager for Michigan State Housing Development Authority, manages the day-to-day operations and is the liaison between the Lansing and Detroit offices. In 2002, she became the first African American Executive Assistant appointed to work for Jennifer M. Granholm when she was elected as the first female elected-Attorney General.


In 2003, Sherry became the first African American Executive Assistant appointed to work for Jennifer M. Granholm when she was elected as the first female elected governor in Michigan. She also served as a surrogate speaker, liaison between the Office of the Governor, Cabinet Directors, dignitaries, and other high-ranking officials. Earlier on in her career, she worked with Michael A. Duggan, Saul A. Green, Bush Holloway, and others during her tenure at Wayne County Corporation Counsel.


Sherry attended Wayne State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She has been a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, a volunteer for Forgotten Harvest and is an active member of the Southfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
