Donna

Donna Bell is new to the Torch of Wisdom Foundation Board of Directors, being elected to the board in 2022. She currently serves as the Nominations Committee chair. Donna has admired the work done by the Torch of Wisdom Foundation (TOWF) in the community and with other organizations, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Southfield Alumnae Chapter.

Education is the key to freedom for all that want to learn and improving and promoting education is one of the purposes of the TOWF.

Donna is a lifelong learner and supports the efforts of the Foundation in its effort to improve the community through community enrichment, cultural arts, and scholarship.

Donna has a passion for planning and management and brings that experience to the TOWF board. She is committed to the community and has always had a desire to give back to those that have the potential to be their best, but do not have the support or the know-how to advance from their current situation. Donna believes being on the TOWF board is a perfect opportunity to connect her experience with the needs of the foundation.

Most of Donna’s career and completed education has been in the Southeast Michigan area. She has worked in the automotive industry for 28 years with a focus on engineering, technology development, and innovation. Donna’s passion for education and research, and having a curious mind, have been instrumental in her career advancement to the executive level. Her entire life has been committed to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels in the public and private sectors.

Donna’s history of life-long learning led her to complete a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University, two Masters of Science in Engineering, and a PhD in Industrial Engineering all from Wayne State University while working in industry.

She is proud of the progress made based on her involvement in programs both at Ford Motor Company and in the community that have advanced individuals and organizations in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Donna has a presence with the State of Michigan as co-chair of the Black Leadership Advisory Council, where the focus of the council is to advance policy that supports the progress of black and brown people in underserved cities across the state. Lastly, she is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
